Daoēn Studio is an international design practice based in California, bringing together diverse perspectives through a collaborative and integrated approach to architecture.
Our work spans residential, multifamily, commercial, and public projects, across a range of scales and contexts. The studio operates as a fluid network of designers, collaborators, and consultants, combining the intimacy and direct involvement of a small practice with the capacity and technical resources of a larger team.
Small by intention, international by nature, and collaborative at its core, Daoēn is a studio built around the idea that the best architecture is never created in isolation.

We believe the future of design must remain human. As artificial intelligence transforms the world, Daoēn Studio embraces it as a tool, not as a substitute for imagination, intuition, or authorship.
We use technology to expand what we can do,
never to decide what we create.
We believe progress does not come from rejecting what came before, nor from surrendering to what comes next, but from understanding both, questioning them, and allowing them to evolve. We design for the present, with an awareness of where we come from and a curiosity for what comes next.
ROBERTO VALDEZ NUÑEZ
A licensed Architect Engineer in Mexico, Roberto is the Founding Principal and Design Director of Daoēn Studio. His early career across Mexico and later in the United States provided a strong luxury and commercial foundation, but over time, his focus shifted inward, toward understanding how architecture is experienced rather than imposed. Through years of practice, reflection, and lived experience, his approach evolved from control toward listening, balance, and intuition, ultimately becoming the foundation of the Daoēn way.
JOYCE ZHU
Originally from Shanghai and based in Beverly Hills, with a background in fashion marketing and real estate development, Joyce brings an international perspective to Daoēn Studio, shaped by culture, style, and a strong instinct for what is both trending and timeless.
As Director of Brand and Studio Relations, she helps cultivate the studio’s relationships, opportunities, and international presence, connecting people and ideas across cultures. Her perspective brings another dimension to how Daoēn Studio presents itself to the world and where the studio can go next.
CLAUDIA MARCELA
With a background in interior design and years of experience across creative industries, Claudia plays a leading role in Daoēn Studio’s operations and growth.
As Studio Manager, she brings together people, projects, and opportunities with a strong instinct for communication and relationships. Based in Guadalajara, she represents the studio locally, helping build new partnerships and shape the continued growth of Daoēn.
MOISES PAREDES
A licensed architect in Mexico and former U.S. youth professional soccer player, Moisés brings discipline, focus, and a team-driven mindset to his role as BIM Manager and Project Coordinator in our Guadalajara office. He leads the technical development and coordination of our projects, bringing precision and consistency to the studio’s modeling and documentation.
